Peekaboo Safeguarding Policy

Last Updated: November 4, 2025

1. Introduction and Purpose

Metasource Limited ("we", "us", "our", or "Company") operates the Peekaboo mobile application ("App"), a platform that enables parents and guardians to connect, organize events, and facilitate playdates involving young children.

This Safeguarding Policy outlines our approach to child safety and user wellbeing, clarifies the respective responsibilities of the Company and users, and provides guidance on reporting concerns.

Company Details:

  • Company Name: Metasource Limited
  • Registered Address: 610 Nathan Road, Hollywood Plaza, Mongkok, Hong Kong
  • Trading Names: Peekaboo, Peekaboo App, peekabootribe.com
  • Safety Contact: contact@peekabootribe.com

2. Core Principles and Scope

2.1 Our Commitment

We are committed to providing a platform that supports safe connections between parents and families. While we implement certain safety features and tools, the safety of children remains the primary responsibility of their parents and guardians.

2.2 Platform Limitations

CRITICAL UNDERSTANDING: THE APP IS A CONNECTION PLATFORM ONLY. WE DO NOT:

  • Conduct background checks or vetting of users
  • Verify user identities beyond optional paid verification services
  • Screen or monitor all user communications
  • Supervise, monitor, or oversee in-person meetings or events
  • Provide childcare, supervision, or guardianship services
  • Guarantee the safety, suitability, or trustworthiness of any user
  • Monitor all user communications or content in real-time
  • Endorse or recommend any particular user, event, or meeting

2.3 Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to:

  • All users of the Peekaboo App
  • All activities and interactions that occur through the App
  • Company personnel involved in operating the App

This policy does NOT apply to or govern offline interactions between users, which remain the sole responsibility of the participating adults.

3. User Responsibilities for Child Safety

3.1 Primary Responsibility

PARENTS AND GUARDIANS ARE SOLELY AND ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY AND WELLBEING OF THEIR CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES. This responsibility includes all interactions arranged through the App, whether online or offline.

3.2 Due Diligence Requirements

Before meeting or interacting with other users, you MUST:

  • Conduct your own background checks and verification of other users' identities
  • Verify the identity and credentials of any person you plan to meet
  • Request and verify references if appropriate for your situation
  • Conduct first meetings in public places with other adults present
  • Trust your instincts and intuition about other users
  • Never leave children unsupervised with individuals met through the App
  • Maintain direct supervision of your children during all events and playdates

3.3 Information Sharing Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Deciding what information about your children to share on the App
  • Determining which photos or videos of your children to upload
  • Understanding that information you share may be seen by other users
  • Managing your privacy settings appropriately
  • Not sharing sensitive information (home address, school details, etc.) publicly

3.4 Prohibited Conduct

Users must NOT:

  • Post or share sexually explicit, pornographic, or inappropriate content involving minors
  • Engage in grooming behavior or inappropriate communication with other users' children
  • Solicit personal information from minors
  • Attempt to contact children without parental knowledge or consent
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose related to children
  • Misrepresent their identity or relationship to children
  • Share content that exploits, harms, or endangers children

4. Safety Features and Tools

4.1 User Reporting Mechanism

The App includes a reporting feature that allows users to report:

  • Inappropriate content or behavior
  • Suspected violations of our Terms of Service
  • Concerns about child safety
  • Suspicious or concerning user behavior
  • Content that may violate laws or regulations

Reports can be submitted through the App's reporting feature. While we review reports, we are not obligated to take any specific action and handle reports at our discretion.

4.2 Blocking and Privacy Controls

Users can:

  • Block other users to prevent contact
  • Control who can view their profile and content
  • Manage location sharing preferences
  • Adjust notification settings

Users should actively use these controls to manage their safety and privacy.

4.3 Optional Identity Verification

We may offer optional identity verification services for a fee. This service:

  • Is entirely optional and user-initiated
  • Involves submitting government-issued ID and a selfie photo
  • Confirms that submitted documents appear to match the account holder
  • Does NOT constitute a background check or character reference
  • Does NOT guarantee user safety, trustworthiness, or suitability
  • Should NOT be relied upon as the sole basis for trusting another user

IMPORTANT: A verified badge does not mean a user is safe or trustworthy. You must still conduct your own due diligence before meeting any user.

5. Content Moderation and Monitoring

5.1 Current Moderation Practices

At this early stage of our operations:

  • We do NOT currently employ active content moderation
  • We do NOT monitor user communications or messages in real-time
  • We do NOT pre-screen content before it is posted
  • We rely primarily on user reports to identify problematic content

5.2 Future Moderation Plans

We plan to implement:

  • Automated keyword filtering for inappropriate content
  • Automated detection of potentially harmful content
  • Image scanning for inappropriate visual content

However, users should understand that:

  • No automated system is perfect or catches all inappropriate content
  • Moderation systems may have false positives and false negatives
  • Users should not rely on moderation as a substitute for their own vigilance

5.3 No Monitoring Obligation

We are NOT obligated to monitor content, communications, or user behavior. Any monitoring or moderation we undertake is voluntary and does not create an ongoing duty to continue such practices. We reserve the right to discontinue any moderation practices at any time without notice.

6. Reporting Safety Concerns

6.1 How to Report

Users can report safety concerns through:

  • The in-app reporting feature (for specific content or users)
  • Email to: safety@peekabootribe.com (for general or urgent concerns)

When reporting, please provide:

  • Detailed description of the concern
  • Username or profile of the user involved
  • Screenshots or evidence if available
  • Date and time of the incident
  • Any additional relevant information

6.2 Report Response Process

When we receive a report:

  • We will review the report when resources permit
  • Response times may vary depending on volume and severity
  • We may take action including warnings, content removal, or account suspension
  • We may take no action if we determine the report does not warrant intervention
  • We are not obligated to inform you of any action taken

IMPORTANT: We handle reports at our sole discretion and are not obligated to take any specific action. All decisions regarding content removal, account suspension, or other interventions are made by the Company in its absolute discretion.

6.3 Immediate Danger Situations

IF YOU BELIEVE A CHILD IS IN IMMEDIATE DANGER OR AN EMERGENCY SITUATION IS OCCURRING, DO NOT RELY ON THE APP'S REPORTING SYSTEM. Instead:

  • Contact local law enforcement immediately (call emergency services)
  • Contact child protection services in your jurisdiction
  • Then, after addressing the immediate emergency, report to us at safety@peekabootribe.com

7. Law Enforcement and Authority Cooperation

  • Content posted or shared by users
  • Usage data, logs, and technical information
  • Any other information necessary to assist investigations

7.3 Reporting Obligations

Where legally required, we will report suspected child abuse, exploitation, or illegal content to appropriate authorities. However, we are not obligated to conduct investigations or actively seek out illegal content beyond what is reported to us or otherwise becomes known to us.

8. Account Suspension and Termination

8.1 Grounds for Action

We may suspend or terminate user accounts for safety-related reasons including:

  • Posting inappropriate content involving children
  • Suspected grooming or predatory behavior

  • Immediately suspend accounts without notice if we believe there is a safety risk
  • Remove content immediately without warning
  • Permanently ban users for serious violations
  • Take any action we deem necessary at our sole discretion

Actions taken are at our absolute discretion and we are not required to provide explanations or opportunities for appeal.

9. Data Retention for Safety Purposes

9.1 Safety-Related Records

We may retain certain information for safety and legal purposes even after account deletion:

  • Reports of inappropriate behavior or content
  • Records of account suspensions or terminations
  • Information related to investigations or legal matters
  • Content that may constitute evidence of illegal activity
  • Data required to prevent banned users from creating new accounts

9.2 Retention Periods

Safety-related records may be retained:

  • As long as necessary for ongoing investigations
  • As required by law or legal proceedings
  • To protect the safety of children and other users
  • At our discretion for legitimate safety purposes
